2023 Chinese Congress of Holistic Integrative Oncology(CCHIO)was successfully held in Tianjin, vividly explaining the direction, laws, paths and subjects of HIM(Holistic Integrative Medicine), and answering questions such as "What", "Why", "How" and "Who".
CCHIO provides advanced ideas, which answers the question of what—what HIM is going to do. Humans are animals with thoughts, and the development of medicine requires ideological guidance. The development of doctors, hospitals, and medical departments all have different goals, but they must be pursued. Academician Fan Daiming believes that the pursuit of medical is HIM. This concept starts from the person as a whole, integrates the most advanced knowledge theories in various medical fields and the most effective experience of various clinical specialties, and will adjust it according to biological, psychological, social and environmental factors to form a more consistent and more effective medical system suitable for human health and disease diagnosis and treatment, allowing medical services to achieve the purpose of integrating mind and body, TCM and Western medicine, prevention and treatment, medical and caring. The influence of CCHIO varies in different countries, but the goals are same under the guidance of HIM.
CCHIO reveals the laws of medical development, which answers Why——why medicine does what it does. HIM sage Fan Daiming recognizes that "it is not enough for medicine to rely solely on science. In addition to science, medicine also involves anthropology, sociology, economics, linguistics, art, psychology, etc. All knowledge related to people should be used to serve medicine". In other words, the realization of integrative medicine is not a product of the minds of scientists, but is based on a highly civilized society. If medicine wants to develop, it must enter the era of HIM. Based on this conclusion , Chairman Fan led the China Anti-Cancer Association to organize this CCHIO.
CCHIO adheres to the policy of "prevention-screening-diagnosis-treatment- rehabilitation, evaluation-support-control-protection-survival", which answers the question "How" - how medicine should be done. Fan Daiming points out that although traditional medicine has made great progress, the ever-changing spectrum of diseases has caused medicine to encounter insurmountable problems. Strength can only be achieved through integration. The contents of each branch venue of CCHIO are exciting: from macro to micro, clinical to basic, extensive integration of TCM to western medicine, throughout the entire life cycle of patients.
CCHIO represents the people's desire for health. The conference sees a total of 165,000 people participated offline worldwide. The total number of live broadcast viewings of the opening ceremony exceeded 70 million, and there were more than 4,000 speakers. The individuals here included medical officers, doctors, patients, and even more ordinary people. Everyone's role in the development of medicine is irreplaceable. Medicine is common to all human beings. CCHIO is based in China and extends the globe, demonstrating the scientific ethics and human rights concept of medical achievements shared by mankind.
We have confident for a better CCHIO next year.
